Reforestation of the Sierra National Forest
As we’re a business located in the Sierra National Forest, all of us live, work and play surrounded by nature. In recent years, California has experienced devastating wildfires that have affected our area. Drought, warming temperatures, bark beetle infestations, and poor forest health have created an environment where any fire poses a threat to the community, and the loss of forest is a growing concern.
Doing our part to ensure wildlife and nature are protected is a responsibility we hold close to our hearts. Because of this, we donate a portion of our revenue from every reservation to the Sierra National Forest.
Contributions may be used to prepare plantation sites for new trees, or planting seedlings grown in Forest Service nurseries throughout California. Seedlings are grown from local seeds and acorns, and replanted near the areas where the seeds were collected to improve their chance of survival. The funds may also be used to maintain existing tree stands and improve wildlife habitat.
This is all important for watershed protection, soil stabilization, and shade for recreation areas. Reforestation plays a vital role both in renewing the national forests in California, and in multiple-use management. Trees help the ground store water, protect against soil erosion, and add to the scenic beauty of the national forests.
